Hello
Here is the result of my work during my mentorship with Andrew Hodgson.
It is based on a Brian Sum concept.
I would like to thank Andrew for his amazing guidance throughout this whole project, and for giving me his best advice on the textures. I am grateful to have worked with him on this.
Improving in my problem-solving techniques was my main goal, and along learning the film pipeline and a whole new software, I think I did alright.
Modeling was fully done in Maya, texturing done with both Substance Painter for some grunges and procedural textures, and Mari for the rest.
Render was done in Arnold, and comp in Nuke.
This project has been super cool to do, and I am happy I did. Onto the next !
Be sure to check Andrew’s work, it’s really cool : https://andrew-hodgson.com/

Breakdowns
I modeled the whole robot in Maya, with a SubD workflow
UDIMs were used for the UV’s, to optimize texture resolution. You can find everything below.
Be sure to check out the videos that show that the robot is well articulated
